New Community wānanga series 2026

Our two new community wānanga series’ are starting next week, 9th/10th of February!

You’ll find all the details, including how to register, in the pānui below:

HARAKEKE HORIZONS Community participation raranga wānanga

Join the hauora experience, through Mahi Toi Fine Arts with Harakeke Horizon.

Explore the intersection of culture and contemporary raranga art. Learn new ideas, express your creativity, and create meaningful pieces.

Facilitated by Anita Watene and Irene Brady-Harris.

  • Term 1 begins Monday 9 February
  • 9am – 3pm
  • Grahamstown Hall, Pollen St, Thames

TE WHARE RONGOĀ O HAURAKI Community participation rongoā wānanga

Led by Bridget Pakinga, this wānanga encourages whānau to raise awareness of traditional rongoā practices to improve the wellbeing of their tamariki and wider whānau within Hauraki.

  • Term 1 begins Tuesday 10 February
  • 9.30am-2.30pm (van leaves Te Korowai, Thames at 9am)
  • DOC Visitor Centre, Kauaeranga Valley, Thames

These wānanga are open to all those aged 16+ who reside in or whakapapa to the Hauraki rohe (area) and are available to attend weekly wānanga sessions.
